Is Affiliate Marketing for Beginners? … or is it to involved for newcomers!
We won’t go into the “how to’s” quite yet; you can find that information on the Affiliate Marketing for Beginners page. What we will explore now is, whether it is a realistic method for making money for the average person – the Beginner. So, is affiliate marketing for beginners?
A resounding YES!
I could bet everything I have that a lot of people wish they could get into some type of internet marketing, but don’t because they believe it to be way too difficult to learn and earn.
NOT TRUE!
Anyone Can Do This! … and it’s not as hard as you think.
The only requirement is that you:
- have the desire
- you stick with it
- you have a good mentor
- you have the right platform and support
… that’s it!
Let’s take a closer look at some of the necessary attributes of a successful affiliate marketer.
Point #1 – You have to understand that nothing will work without the desire, period. No elaboration necessary.
Point #2 – Building an online affiliate business takes time and commitment and it will not succeed unless you have, not only the desire, but the drive to carry it thru. This means “sticking with it” and not giving up.
Many times folks have put their dreams aside because they expect immediate success. It takes time to build a business on a strong foundation that will last for years and years. Some have quit when success was literally right around the corner – I’ve seen it happen!
If you do not have the first two points in-check, you might as well stop right here and find another way to earn money because it just won’t work. Affiliate Marketing (or any online business for that matter) can provide a wonderful way of life, but it doesn’t happen on it’s own and it is NOT a “get-rich-quick” scheme – it’s a real and solid opportunity to earn a living online.
You’ve got to put in the effort! Anything worthwhile takes work.
Point #3 – You’ve got to align yourself with someone who knows what they are doing and can teach you the proper way to go about this. As with anything, a good teacher can make ALL the difference. This is especially important when dealing with Google and getting ranked! You really have to be on page one of Google to get the kind of traffic you need to be a success, so you have to follow proper protocol. You can read about my choice as the #1 recommended affiliate training & community online.
Point #4 – Having the right platform for success. You could do affiliate marketing without a website using pay-per-click (there is a post about PPC and review I have that tells about doing just that), but I don’t suggest that. To really be a lasting, residual based affiliate business, you absolutely need a website. But don’t fret and worry – it’s really quite easy to build a basic site. I can even show you how to get a couple of Free Sites with support!
There you have it!
So, is affiliate marketing for beginners? I think you’ve got your answer – Absolutely Yes
… don’t be afraid to give it a try!
Average people are making a nice living online with Affiliate Marketing!
… YOU CAN TOO!
I think anyone can do and achieve anything they want if they set their minds to it. Everything starts somewhere. So is affiliate marketing for beginners? Of course!
There is no limit to what beginners can do. You just gotta put in the effort and learn as much as you can. The important thing is to not give up and to do that, don’t set high expectations from the get-go. Make small goals and climb your way from there. Too many people fail early because they expect too much.
When I thought about starting an online business, the first thing that came across my mind was to create an online store. But then the process of acquiring and shipping products was so complex, I decided to abandon the idea.
Luckily I did because when I decided to go with the affiliate marketing route, I realized that there are so much stuff that I don’t know about yet. Creating a website, doing niche research, getting online traffic – all these are unfamiliar to me. I can’t imagine how complicated it would become if I were to sell products at the same time.
Hello there. I learned a lot from your post about Affiliate Marketing. I have been earning money with Payoneer Affiliate Program for years (2012-2015).
However, I never wrote posts about the product, until a few weeks ago when I wrote a review about this program. Your post is helpful, because it has great main points. Desire is an important asset in everything we do, not only online.
Thanks for sharing.
John
Hi John
… thanks for stopping by!!!
You are so right about that – you have to want to succeed to make it happen, and never give up!
Promoting and marketing your affiliate programs will become easier and easier with the proper techniques and tactics. One of the BEST places I’ve found after years of searching is the training over at Wealthy Affiliate. In my opinion it’s the best, bar none.
Give it a try John – you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain – it’s free to join!
… and keep at it!
The thing is, with the right step-by-step training, anyone can learn how to make money online. Even with the website side of things, it is so much easier now that it has ever been in the past. Many years ago,, you had to have some HTML coding experience to be able to make a website. Then after that came tools like Dreamweaver, but they were sometimes still quite time consuming to use to create websites. These days, you can have a website up and running in a matter of less than a minute, and keeping it updated with fresh content is super easy. So really there are no excuses, anyone can do this.
Hi Marcus
I couldn’t agree more! Thank you!
I remember making websites with Frontpage – seems like ancient history now.
You’re right, websites can be made in literally minutes with today’s technology and applications.
I personally like to refer folks over to My #1 Rated Work-From-Home Program where they can make their websites easily (and for free) with the full package of training, support, community and of course websites.
It’s really NOT DIFFICULT to do, but certain rules and techniques must be followed if you want to do it right, and they are the best in my opinion to learn everything you need to do to make money – especially the beginner.
Thanks for stopping by Marcus!
Hi there Joanne, very well said. The desire, definitely the Number #1 factor. If you don’t want it so much you can’t go far. I have tried a couple of jobs that I did not like, yet I did not have the desire to succeed on them…failure.
And that applies to any work, on or offline. Because if you build let’s say a brick and mortar business and even if you are getting money from the very first day, you have to override the initial expenses in order to say “Now I am successful”. For example I own a hotel, It started 11 years ago. Am I successful? … Not. I am just getting back some money from my investment. It would take years to recover.
That goes with Affiliate Marketing. In that case you don’t have the huge expenses in worst cases few hundreds dollars. But the money won’t roll in that easy as with offline businesses.
I have met a lot of people abandon their beautiful work after a few months in affiliate marketing. It’s a pity. Those that insist get what they deserve after all.
Of course you need the right training and support. I won’t suggest either someone using only PPC campaigns without a website. No website – no trust.
Fully enjoyed!
Hi Tasos
Right! … no desire = failure
Yeah, a “brick and mortar” always takes what seems years to even begin to make a profit. You’re correct in that affiliate marketing takes some time too, but it will become successful long before the traditional business will.
I too have seen people give up on their dream, when in reality they were so close to making it – it’s a real shame.
In my opinion, the only way you can fail is to give up!
PPC does work, but you have to be very very careful because a lot of money could be at stake. It’s best to start out with an affiliate marketing site of your own and get into other methods a little later on. When you’re ready to take that on, just let me know and I’ll try to help you out.
Thanks!
Hi! Good to see someone write about and ask the question “Is Affiliate Marketing for Beginners?” I was one of those people who because I didn’t know what it entailed shied away from Affiliate Marketing. I believed that it would be too complicated and time consuming to learn.
I am so so relieved to learn that there are online courses that can teach us from beginning to end how to set up a business in affiliate marketing; and give us the support and tools we need to stay on task. Losing motivation comes when there is no guidance or support.
It sounds like Wealthy Affiliate is an excellent course for anyone especially us shy beginners. Would you say that there is less quitting a business when there is proper training and support? I mean most people go online looking for online business, and sign up with someone who might be new also and so they lose motivation after a few weeks because they get stuck-don’t you agree?
Thank you for sharing a well-written and easy to follow posts.
All the best,
Hi Angela!
I know what you mean about being a little intimidated by affiliate marketing. I was once right where you are now. It can be boiled down to a few basics though as mentioned, then build from there.
It’s really important however, to get the right information and be taught by reputable folks who know what they are talking about. You may find people teaching the wrong methods that may produce no results or even get you in “deep kimchi” with Google. That’s why I encourage people to try out Wealthy Affiliate (WA). From personal experience I can say they are the finest affiliate community out there. Nothing is perfect, but they are just about as close you can get. … and they let you experience it for free – give it a try; I think you’ll be happy.
As far as “quitting” goes, of course the training and support are huge factors. Without good instruction one could certainly become frustrated and confused. You need direction and an easy to follow process that’s easily understood.
But having said that, quitting ultimately falls upon the individual. You have to maintain drive and realize things take time. In the end, the only way you can fail is if YOU quit. Have faith in yourself and never give up!!!
Thanks!
… and come back again!
This is not my first time to visit your website and I don’t know why?
But today I want to tell you that you assisted me since I found wealthy affiliate and I joined it through your website today. I want but only to salute you and say thanks. And this world needs people like you of more than 20 years over internet marketing to teach them the best affiliate programmes ever.
Hi again Divican!
… and thank you for your very kind remarks – I truly appreciate it a lot!
I hope you find Wealthy Affiliate as great a resource for you as it is for me. There’s a ton of training, tutorials and a great community. If you ever need a hand just let me know, and I’ll try to help as best I can.
Just keep on “keeping on” Divican!

Hello again Joanne!
Totally agree with the part that we need mentor and will. I started Affiliate Marketing a while back but I gave up hope because it felt too overwhelming. After 2 years I finally got the guts to try out Affiliate Marketing and I finally get it right because the community, the lessons and my mentor helped me a lot. It doesn’t feel like a chore that way. It feels more like you’re chasing your passion and I guess that helps too 😀
I had “floundered” for a number of years trying to connect with someone who I could really learn affiliate marketing from. Most of what I found previously, seemed to only want my money rather than truly helping me to learn. I also wanted to be in a place of “like minded” supportive people; a real community.
Took a while, but I found my “home” at a place called Wealthy Affiliate. If you haven’t done so yet, you should check it out – it’s free to join. The best I’ve come across yet in the way of training, lessons, community, etc.
A mentor/teacher I think is a must. It’s best to start out on the right foot from the beginning, avoiding any pitfalls someone just beginning in affiliate marketing would run into.
Thanks Riaz!
ps – if you check them out, let me know your thoughts.
Hey Joanne,
Thanks for the outline in this post! I started flirting with affiliate marketing about two years ago, and like most, I gave up after several months but recently started to get back involved with it.
One of the things that I got caught up in was not liking the niche i was involved in, which is also a job that I do. It was like working 2 shifts in the same job, and I quickly got sick of it.
This time around I have chosen a Niche that is also my hobby, and I find it easy and interesting to write about it.
Any more advice for a sort of newbie?
Yeah – agreed!
I did somewhat the same thing.
If you choose a niche that is fun and interesting for you, it really is not like work at all. I also tend to do more with my site because I enjoy it.
Who was it who said “find a job that you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”!
So true!
